Somatic Movement

Somatics is a gentle, awareness-based approach to movement that helps you reconnect with your body from the inside out. In our courses, we draw specifically on Hanna Somatics — a method that uses slow, mindful movements to retrain the brain and nervous system, release chronic muscle tension, and restore natural, comfortable movement. Rather than stretching or forcing change, Hanna Somatics works through sensing and awareness, supporting lasting improvements in how your body feels and functions both on and off the mat.

Join Dani Affleck for a 2-hour Intro to Somatics workshop.

Through slow, mindful movement, you’ll get a feel for what Hanna Somatics is all about, and how it can help you release chronic tightness, improve posture, and feel more at home in your body.

You’ll leave with practical tools to help reduce tension and pain, a deeper connection to your body, a take-home handout so you can keep practicing.

No experience needed, these movements are gentle and floor based so accessibly to most people. Just bring curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

Dani’s course is designed to help you feel better in your body—gently, mindfully, and with lasting results. The practice uses slow, intentional movement to address chronic tension, discomfort, and postural imbalances at their root: the nervous system.

You’ll learn to recognize and reverse sensory-motor amnesia, the loss of voluntary muscle control that occurs from repetitive stress, injury, or simply living in a fast-paced world. Using a technique called pandiculation, each session will help you unwind muscular patterns that keep your body stuck in cycles of pain or rigidity.

By the end of the course, you'll gain a toolkit for releasing tension, moving with more freedom, and building a healthier mind-body connection—all without force, strain, or stretching.

No experience is needed. This course welcomes all bodies and is especially supportive for those managing chronic pain, limited mobility, or stress-related tension.

Dani is an experienced yoga teacher with a background in trauma-informed practices, yoga for mental health, yoga therapy, and Hanna Somatics. Her approach is grounded in creating accessible, inclusive spaces where students feel comfortable to explore the connection between mind, body, and breath. Through gentle, embodied movement, Dani will help you reconnect to your innate curiosity, presence, and compassion—no experience needed, just a willingness to listen inward.
