Studio etiquette

SHOES

Please remove your shoes before entering the studio.

PUNCTUALITY

Please show respect to your fellow yogis and their practice and arrive on time for class.  Late arrivals disrupt both students and the teacher.  We prefer that you stay for the duration of class, as savasana is where the real benefits take place, however, if you do need to leave early, please do so quietly and before savasana not half way through.

PEACE

The studio is a space of sanctuary and calm and whilst we love a good chat and absolutely want build this community, we try to keep our pre-class chat to a minimum, keeping voices low, and allowing other students their peace.

When arriving (coming up the stairs and waiting outside the studio) please do so quietly, mindful that there is often a class before yours and the students may be in meditation or savasana.

Please remove any jangly jewellry.

PHONES

We have a strict no mobile use policy in the studio.  Please do not take calls or text before, after or during class.  Please wait until you are outside the building to do this.  Please turn off your mobile phones completely in the studio.  Do not just switch it on silent, as vibrating phones are also distracting for students near to the cubby holes.

Please do not check your emails or text via your smart watch and also ensure that its notifications are silenced.

NO SHOWS & LATE CANCELS

Please cancel out of class if you cannot make it. You need cancel your own classes from within the Mindbody app or web account. Classes will be returned back to your account but if you cancel within 3 hours of the start time, and if class was fully booked out, meaning that someone else was potentially unable to participate, you will be subject to the $10 no show fee. This will be deducted from the card that is held on your account.

ILLNESS

Please do not come to class if you are sick. Out of respect for your fellow students please also reconsider your attendance if you are experiencing allergy symptoms that are similar to cold/flu/Covid and require you to sniff, cough and blow your nose throughout class which may cause them a level of for discomfort and impact their experience.

GOOD PRACTICES

Please clean and put the mats and props that you use away carefully so that they look nice and tidy for incoming yogis.

Please do not walk on other people's mats.

Please check your odours... good and bad!  Any strong smells can be offensive to other students, including perfumes.

To honour the energy and group dynamic please do not perform a practice that is markedly different to that being offered by the teacher. Modifications are great and very welcome but if you want to do your own thing please do that at home.

Please respect your teacher’s time & energy. Whilst they love the practice and our community, they are not there to answer questions that should be directed to your physio, doctor or therapist. Your teacher needs to give their attention to the whole group and often has places they need to get to after class, so please respect boundaries around time and energy.
