8 week Beginner's yoga course

The Yoga Ground, in the heart of Ponsonby, Auckland, welcomes all students to come and try some classes. The studio is set in a spacious awarehouse with loads of natural light and energy for your practice.

Yoga is the practice of being fully present, of participating fully in every moment of our lives. Through practicing Yogic asanas, the postures, we start to become much more intimate with our bodies. This participation creates health and balance in the body. With a sense of curiosity and sensitivity, we feel ourselves move, bringing strength, flexibility and ease. As the body and mind are inseparable, these same qualities are also cultivated in the mind.

In this way, Yoga is the perfect antidote for a body out of balance or a stressed mind. By moving through the Yogic postures and becoming more aware of our breath, we gain insight into how our bodies work, and how our mind works.

We’re able to see ourselves more objectively as our habitual patterns of movement and thought become clearer. We feel more open, fully present in our daily lives. This is the gracious art of Yoga, the art of living.

At The Yoga Ground we teach many aspects of the traditional Yogic practice. These include yogic postures, breathing techniques, meditation, relaxation, chanting and yogic philosophy. Classes cater for all levels from the beginner to the regular practitioner.
