Eight-week Kids Yoga Course

Starts Monday 7th May, 3.30 - 4.15pm

with Therese Walley and Kristina Cavit from The Kindness Institute.

Yoga is a fantastic practice for children and young people.  Our Kids after school courses offer a playful, non-competitive environment, which fosters creativity, self-awareness and a team approach to Yoga. 

In this course, we explore yoga and mindfulness meditation in a hands-on way through fun games & activities, art & crafts, play & yoga. Children will learn about focus, calmness, gratitude, self love & stress management.

The weekly classes will be child friendly, play based and incorporate individual kids interests.  The sessions will include practice of asana (postures), age appropriate breathing practices, yoga inspired games and partner/group yoga as well as relaxation/ meditation practices. Kids will be encouraged to integrate these into home and school life. 

The Teachers

Therese Walley and Kristina Cavit will be teaching the classes.  Kristina is the founder of The Kindness Institute and has vast experience working with children and Therese works with Kristina on their kids programmes.  Proceeds from the course, after expenses, go to helping the Kindness Institute continue their work.  More info about that below...

Please download and complete the Registration form and email it to kara@yogaground.co.nz in advance of the first day of the course, or bring it along.

Student Age Range

Please note that whilst the course is open to 5 and 6-year olds, please consider their level and ability to be in this environment on their own.  Parents are welcome to stay for the first 15-20 minutes of the first class if their child needs settling, but after this time we prefer for the children to participate in the session on their own.

The Kindness Institute

The Kindness Institute specialises in mindfulness education and has seen great benefits for students learning, listening, confidence, improving sleep, focus and anxiety.  Their program is  based on world leading programs, including the Holistic Life Foundation supported by Harvard and Jon Hopkins Medical School.  They work in primary schools, high schools, youth justice and with women in prison.   They have a 100% success rate with youth reporting a reduction in stress in our ATAWHAI (kindness program).
