Vyayam Yoga Workshop (the Art of Dynamic Breathing)

Saturday 11 September, 2010,
9am-11am

Bookings essential. Cost $40

The word Vyayam comes from Sanskrit and means to tame the inner breath. It is an ancient Indian technique used by warriors, yogis, dancers and performers, a unique combination of Classical Yoga, Martial Arts and Hindu dance, with a heavy emphasis on breath work to increase and transform energy to obtain greater physical and mental vitality.

Vyayam (the Art of Dynamic Breathing), grants its practitioner great power and control, helping them to make their bodies more flexible, it decongests articulations, tones muscles, and frees the spine from unnecessary tension. It makes the body compact and strong, and regenerates energy by making you more vital, creative and positive. In a word, it balances the body, mind and spirit.

This practice is a dynamic practice done to lively music; the workshop will take you through and extended practice, cover the 5 essential principles of the technique and we will speak about the incredible importance of something we all take for granted, our breath.

Teacher:
Ondine Savage (Yogitaratna Chaitanya) has recently arrived back in New Zealand after spending more than ten years overseas between Spain and India where she studied intensively the art of Hatha Yoga, Vyayam Yoga and Vedic Culture in the traditional and Orthodox eastern style with her master Shri Swami Shankaratilakananda.

She feels priviledged to be able to bring Vyayam Yoga for the first time to New Zealand and share its amazing benefits with all those who share a passion for health and well being.
